Care Coordinator - Child Development Infoline (CDI) - Bilingual Spanish Required

Position Summary

The Crisis Center of Tampa Bay brings help, hope and healing to people facing serious life challenges or trauma resulting from sexual assault or abuse, domestic violence, financial distress, substance abuse, medical emergency, suicidal thoughts, emotional or situational problems. The CDI Care Coordinator’s primary responsibility is to provide comprehensive system navigation regarding child development health or development issues. The CDI Care Coordinator will report to the Gateway Supervisor and in his/her absence to the Program Manager of Gateway Services.

Strategic/Transformational Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive system navigation through intake, screening, assessment, referral and linkages to developmental services both telephonically and face-to-face for clients with concerns regarding child development health or behavioral issues. The CDI Care Coordinator will also be expected to conduct training for the community and providers on program related topics.

Transactional/Administrative Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct system navigation through intake, screening, assessment, referral and connection (linkage) to developmental services both telephonically and face-to-face.
  • Conduct telephonic and face-to-face care coordination and provide psycho-education for callers with concerns regarding children’s health and behavioral or developmental issues.
  • Provide support for Intervention Specialists regarding children’s health and behavioral or developmental issues.
  • Complete ongoing training requirements as prescribed including: 32 hours of child development and parenting instruction within the first 12 months of employment; 16 hours of child development-specific training each year thereafter.
  • Complete ongoing training requirements as prescribed including: Introduction to Trauma Informed Care, Psychological First Aid within the first 18 months of employment.
  • Complete necessary documentation using approved CCTB CDI Style Guide and communicate with community providers regarding service accessibility.
  • Communicate on a regular basis with service area staff and volunteers.
  • Show availability for non-business hours assignments when necessary for CDI program functioning.
  • Have knowledge and comply with the policies and procedures of the Agency.
  • Expected to meet all contracted deliverables.
  • Expected to maintain an average score of 80% or greater on all individual performance metrics.
  • Perform such other duties as may be assigned by supervisor.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelors’ degree in early childhood, child development or related social service field is preferred.  Equivalent professional experience may be accepted in lieu of the Bachelors’ degree. 
  • Experience in provision of counseling services to children and families. 
  • Knowledge of/or ability to learn Windows based computer system required.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast paced environment.
  • Comfort with diverse populations and flexibility are essential.  
  • Proficiency in both English and Spanish oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability.
  • Complete pre-service training requirements including: CCTB Core Training and ASQ 3/ASQ SE within the first sixty days of employment.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Know and comply with the policies and procedures of the Agency.
  • Knowledge of child development and assessment skills.
  • Knowledge of community resources.
  • Knowledge of Window based computer operating system and basic software programs.
  • Ability to understand and apply applicable policies and procedures.
  • Ability to utilize problem solving techniques.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing – English and Spanish.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

Physical Demands/Working Conditions

Physical Requirement: This position requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, and hand and finger dexterity, including ability to visual acuity to use a keyboard. Employee must be able to sit for long periods of time. This position performs duties of more than average difficulty requiring reasonable initiative and independent judgment under general supervision.

Working Conditions: Duties are performed indoors and outdoors. On occasion will require the use of personal automobile to travel to meetings and could be exposed to changing weather.  The noise level is moderate.
