THRIVE Therapist

Department: Counseling
Location: Tampa, FL

Position Summary

The Crisis Center of Tampa Bay brings help, hope and healing to people facing serious life challenges or trauma resulting from sexual assault or abuse, domestic violence, financial distress, substance abuse, medical emergency, suicidal thoughts, emotional or situational problems. The THRIVE Therapist provides short term tele therapy for individuals suffering from anxiety, depression or substance abuse disorder. This position reports to Program Manager and in his or her absence the Director of the Corbett Trauma Center.      

Strategic/Transformational Duties and Responsibilities

  • To provide help, hope and healing to those facing a mental or behavioral health crisis

Transactional/Administrative Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with Tampa Bay Thrives and Vibrant to provide a continuum of care for community members suffering from anxiety, depression or substance abuse disorder
  • Receives direct referrals from the ďLetís TalkĒ Support Line and
  • Completes  the Intake process within one business day of the approved referral
  • Provides up to 5 sessions of tele therapy for the purposes of psycho education, reduction of symptoms and support, pending an intake with a long-term provider
  • Facilitates linkages to the University of South Florida (USF) Psychiatry for telehealth psychiatric assessment, when indicated
  • Maintains client records in the Crisis Center Electronic Health Record (EHR), NextStep
  • Provides cumulative and non-identifying data to Tampa Bay Thrives
  • Participates in committees and strategy discussions with Tampa Bay Thrives and/or Vibrant
  • Participates in community presentations related to the Crisis Centerís partnership with Tampa Bay Thrives.
  • Completes State-required outcome measures and receive State Rating Certification as required by funding sources.
  • Completes ACT Service Training as required by FCASV.
  • Assist with supervision of interns and/or clinicians for licensure.
  • Perform such other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.
  • Assist unlicensed staff in assessing clients who are suicidal or homicidal and complete Baker Acts when needed.

Education and Experience

  • Masterís degree in in mental health or social sciences field.
  • Two years of post-licensure experience in counseling or related field. 
  • Licensed by the State of Florida (Mental Health Counseling, Clinical Social Work, or Marriage and Family Therapy).

  • Knowledge of issues of Trauma and Trauma Informed Care.
  • Knowledge of community resources.
  • Knowledge of supervisor principles and practices.

  • Knowledge of and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Have knowledge of and compliance with the policies and procedures of the Agency.

Physical Demands/Working Conditions

Physical Requirement: This position regularly requires the ability to sit for sustained periods of time and to effectively communicate with and assess clients, using verbal and nonverbal cues. This position also requires the ability to operate office equipment.

Working Conditions: Duties are performed primarily in an office setting. On occasion will require the use of transportation to travel to meetings and could be exposed to changing weather.  The noise level is quiet.

Travel: Occasional

Hours: Must be able to work a flexible schedule which may include mornings, afternoons and/or evenings. May include Saturday service hours. May require working at multiple service locations.
