TransCare, a division of the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay, is partnering with Ultimate Medical Academy (UMA) to provide an EMT Apprenticeship Program!

There are four EMT Apprenticeship cohorts offered each year: the February, May, August, and November cohorts. The next available class is the August 2024 cohort with employment starting as early as June 10th, 2024. Reserve your spot today!

• 16-week EMT program
  • Grant funding provides full coverage of tuition expense (includes books/materials) - no cost to the student!
  • Classes meet two days per week: Mondays/Wednesdays or Tuesdays/Thursdays.
  • Clinical rotations with TransCare and Tampa General Hospital Emergency Department.
  • EMT program prepares you to meet eligibility requirements and pass the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) exam and obtain Florida EMT certification.
• Work full-time or part-time in a flexible schedule starting in the role of Behavioral Health Attendant and progressing to the role of First Responder that accommodates the demands of the EMT program; starting rate is $13.00/hour.
• Upon receiving EMT certification, promote to EMT with TransCare; starting rate $18.00, with incremental increases over 12 months.
• Receive mentorship and on-the-job training by experienced EMTs and Field Training Officer's to prepare you for a career in healthcare and EMS.
• Education Assistance is available for continued education (paramedic, fire, undergraduate, etc.) after completing one year of service and maintaining full-time employment.
• A comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, short-term disability, long-term disability, life insurance, paid time off, and 401(k) are available to eligible employees.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid Florida driver's license with a good driving record (greater than one year)
• Must be able to pass a level 2 criminal background check
• Must be able to successfully pass pre-employment physical, including 125lb lift test and drug screening.
• To work in partnering hospitals must complete or provide records of the required EMT program vaccinations.
• To complete the apprenticeship, individuals must remain employed and in good standing for 12 months or greater upon completion of the UMA EMT program.
